Overview & Highlights

Nestled in the charming Praça Eugenio Honold of Ossos, Armacao dos Buzios, Restaurante La Gare offers an exquisite culinary journey that celebrates the vibrant flavors of Brazilian coastal cuisine with a sophisticated twist. This cozy yet elegant spot has quickly become a must-visit for locals and travelers alike, thanks to its masterful blend of fresh seafood, inventive dishes, and a warm, inviting atmosphere.

From the moment you step inside, La Gare enchants with its seamless fusion of rustic charm and refined details. Guests are immediately drawn to the aroma of artisanal breads and ocean-fresh ingredients, setting the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. The menu is a carefully curated celebration of the sea and local produce, perfectly suited to those who appreciate nuanced flavors and creative plating.

Start your meal with standout entradas like the Couvert Terra e Mar, a delightful selection of naturally fermented artisanal breads served alongside a sumptuous black olive tapenade and tarama. The Salada Morna de Polvo is a sensory delight—tender octopus and sweet grape tomatoes sautéed in olive oil, paired with toasted sweet potato and a tangy mustard-honey sauce that dances on the palate. For those craving fresh, vibrant notes, the Avocado com Camarões marries creamy avocado with juicy tangerine, cherry tomatoes, and red onion, all elevated by a citrusy dressing that perfectly balances each bite.

When it comes to main courses, La Gare’s Risotto de Frutos do Mar stands out—a fragrant risotto studded with shrimp, octopus, squid, and shellfish, enriched by a velvety shrimp bisque and a subtle hint of port wine. Equally tempting is the Gnocchi Presidencial, a house specialty combining traditional potato and sweet potato gnocchi swimming in a luscious shrimp, pomodoro, and gorgonzola sauce. For a taste that evokes the seaside charm of Búzios, the Peixe da Vila dazzles with its perfectly seared white fish fillet encrusted in a crunchy nut crust, served alongside risotto caiçara that brims with authentic regional flavors.

No visit to La Gare would be complete without indulging in the divine desserts. The Romeu & Julieta dessert, featuring creamy artisanal cheese paired with guava syrup and chunks of guava, offers a beautifully balanced sweet and savory finale. The English classic Banoffee invites guests into layers of toasted banana cinnamon, chocolate cookie crumble, dulce de leche, and silky whipped cream—a comforting yet elegant sweet treat. For chocolate lovers, the Mousse de Chocolate, made with fine-origin chocolate, delivers a richness that melts effortlessly on the tongue.

Multiple guests have praised La Gare’s atmosphere and service with genuine enthusiasm. Eva English found it “really nice and cozy,” enchanted by the warmth of the staff, particularly Xavier’s friendly hospitality that made their Peixe and Polvo dishes shine all the more. Lua Savoret calls it a “fantastic dinner” experience, appreciating not just the food, but the ambiance enriched by live Brazilian music that complements the restaurant’s style perfectly. Raíssa Soares, coming from the high standards of Michelin-star dining, was astounded by the vegetarian options and left glowing after savoring the signature La Gare cocktail and indulgent banoffee.

Whether you are seeking a romantic dinner or a tasteful gathering with friends, La Gare dazzles with its combination of fresh, creative cuisine and a relaxed yet refined vibe. The attentive staff—often highlighted for their genuine care and expert knowledge—ensure every dish is served with pride and every guest feels valued.

Really nice and cozy restaurant. We had the Peixe and the Polvo and both were amazing! Special thanks to our waiter Xavier who was friendly and welcoming. We will be back!

Fantastic dinner! Beautiful spot, amazing food, and super attentive staff. The live Brazilian music made the atmosphere even more special. Definitely one of the best places in Búzios.

I just had the best vegetarian meal of my life in La Gare and I have just been to a Michelin star restaurant in Rio de Janeiro. The 2 vegetarian dishes they have are AMAZING. The signature drink called La Gare was also one of the best drinks I’ve ever had. The banoffee was to die for. I am coming back tomorrow to have the vegetarian moqueca for lunch. A lot of regards to the kitchen and to the staff! Amazing! PS: I love eating without crazy noise as a background so this place is also amazing if you are the same.

La Gare is definetely one of the better restaurants in Búzios. The service and the staff are excellent. The starters are nicely presented and very tasteful. The main courses are also good, but in my opinion not as special as the starters and also a bit „too average“ (taste and presentation) for the image the restaurant is creating. The live music fits very good to the style of the restaurant and was very nice. Anyway the charge is R$15 per person extra, what is also a bit on the high side in my opinion. La Gare is for sure a nice place to have a traditional dinner outside from crowded tourist places in Búzios.

Really fantastic evening. Food was excellent and Emelia and Carlos couldn’t have been more pleasant and helpful. Carlos recommended the advocado and prawn starter and the flame grilled steak - both were tasty and really well presented. Thanks for everything. Wayne and Jane

This restaurant is amazing, such a gorgeous setting in the Villa Da Santa. Food is so delicious with great options for breakfast too, and the staff and just the best - so friendly and welcoming, and very attentive. Thank you for a fabulous experience

We spent a few days at the hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our meals at La Gare restaurant, both for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast is truly outstanding, with a wide variety of sweet and savory options, beautifully presented miniatures, and dishes freshly prepared by the chef. Dinner was equally impressive, with food that was very well executed and full of flavor. A wonderful dining experience overall.
